Advanced Highway Safety Driver Training - 1 Day
Introduction: Advanced Highway Safety Driver Training will enhance and advance skills learned in existing Driver Education courses or through years of driving experience. The training day is 90 percent in U.S. Training Center-provided driver training vehicles using both anti-lock and non anti-lock braking systems. Skills discussed in the classroom will be applied on the track using various drills designed to have the student experience multiple weight transfers, corrective skid control measures and the use of multiple traction environments. These skills will allow the student to be able to operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner on any highway worldwide.
Aim: To provide the student with the driving skills known and documented to be required during a highway driving emergency.

- Proper Use of the Eyes
- Steering Wheel Management
- Proper Body Position
- Emergency Braking Techniques – ABS and non-ABS
- Weight Transfer Control
- Anticipatory Driving
- Correct Tire Inflation Pressure
Practical Exercise – ABS and non-ABS:
- Straight Line Braking
- Braking and Turning/Turning and Braking
- Multiple Lane Avoidance Drills
- Instinctive Reaction Drills (surprise)
- Distracted Driver Drills
- Off Road Recovery Drills
- Skid Control on Skid Pad
- Highway Speed Driving Techniques
Gear: Clothing appropriate for climate and conditions and a water bottle or other hydration system.
Method: 10% classroom instruction and 90% in vehicle training including high G maneuvers.
Skill Prerequisites: Valid driver’s license (If less than 18 years of age, the parent or guardian must be on site)
Number of attendees: 24 maximum
Duration: 1 day
Course Cost: $475.00 per person including a certificate of completion. A variety of meal options can be purchased from our on-site dining facility for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Bunkhouse lodging is available at the North Carolina campus and may be reserved through your Sales Coordinator. Most items on the gear list may be rented via the application at additional cost or purchased at the Proshop.
