Mentor to the Operations Officer and Assistant Operations Officer, Combined Training
Advisory Group-Police (CTAG-P), AFG

Location(s): Afghanistan

Primary Purpose: Supports USG, Combined Training Advisory Group-Police (CTAG-P), Afghan National Police Programs to contribute the development of the National Police program.

Essential Functions:

  • Work directly with the Operations Officer and Assistant Operations Officer in developing and planning the direction of national, regional, provincial, and district ANP training programs.
  • Coach the MOI to establish the ANPTC C2 operational planning staff that is well trained in all aspects of operational planning; trained and capable of implementing approved policies and procedures and capable of formulating, distributing, and tracking plans on an as-required basis.
  • Train and coach the ANTPC Operations Department Staff to conduct an annual review of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), coordinate and obtain approval for modifications and changes and provide guidance and oversight to ensure the review is completed.
  • Train and coach the ANPTC Operations Department to ensure that allocation of resources and employment of operational forces are driven by data analysis.
  • Develop methods and systems to ensure that MOI can, within two years, provide effective training operations without contract support.                                      
  • Trains and coaches HN counterpart how to coordinate all law enforcement support and activities.
  • Trains and coaches HN counterpart how to functions as a Battalion S3 Officer.
  • Trains, mentor and coaches HN counterpart to be responsible for all military and civilian police contingency operations.

 

Job Requirements:
Bachelors Degree is required. Advanced degree in criminal justice, law enforcement or business desired. Senior Military Officer 31A, (O4 and above) is an essential differential for this position. Must have at least ten years of experience in operations and operations management. Must be completely familiar with and must have experience managing others within a fast-paced operational environment.

Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization (including management, peers, team members and customer-base). Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion. Problem solving skills with an analytical thought process. Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.

Must be in excellent health and be able to deploy globally to include hostile environments (Afghanistan). Work environment varies from an office setting to austere conditions. The work schedule is a 60-hour work week; in some periods, extended hours may be required.
