CNTPO Mentor to the Senior Clinical Officer-AFG. (MD)

Location(s): Afghanistan

Primary Purpose: Supports USG, Afghan Ministry of Interior (MoI), Afghan National Police Programs to contribute the development of the National Police program. Medical Mentor SME shall work directly with the Senior Clinical Officer with all aspects of developing policy and strategy for the administration. Mentoring objectives shall be identified, tracked, and reported on by the Contractor. New mentoring objectives shall be included through coordination with CSTC-A and the COTR. The Mentor will assist the Senior Clinical officer in assuming the overall responsibility for managing clinical risk in Afghanistan. The Mentor will ensure that risk management and patient safety are embedded in the medical system.

Essential Functions:

  • Support all OSTG goals and objectives in the strategic plan
  • Reduce ANP-wide died-of-wound rates and improve access to care for patients
  • Enhance and expand the Police Hospital
  • Train the force on trauma assistance
  • Establish fully functioning patient movement system
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key clinical, patient, and Government/public stakeholders
  • Coordinate clinical and appropriate external input into activities and decisions

 

Job Requirements:

  • For the senior medical mentor position, a Bachelors Degree and MD are required, and an Advanced Degree of Master of Public Health (MPH), Doctor of Public Health (DrPH), or Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) with a residency in Preventative Medicine are preferred. Experience as the Chief of Staff of a hospital or running medical departments is desired.
  • Must possess the ability to edit, draft and write various types of project documents, Proficiency in Microsoft Office a must. Must be able to work with minimal direction, to multi-task, meet deadlines, and set priorities in keeping with CNTPO Program standards and expectations. Must be a quick learner, adaptable, and responsible. Must have and demonstrate a strong proficiency in MS Office and Acrobat
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization (including management, peers, team members and customer-base). Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion. Problem solving skills with an analytical thought process. Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment. Candidate must have demonstrated throughout their career a history of leadership, mentorship, and strong moral virtue.
  • Must be in excellent health and be able to deploy globally to include hostile environments (Afghanistan). Work environment varies from an office setting to austere conditions. The work schedule is a 60-hour work week; in some periods, extended hours may be required.
