Readers;
Readers;
We don't pay ransom and you will have a very bad day if you continue to play these stupid games.
It could have been a Marine, Army or Navy sniper, not as if after all these years in Iraq we do not have a plethora of skilled marksman but since it was on the high seas it is appropriate that it would be the SEAL's that rescue the ship captain from the "pirates" of the coast of Somailia. I have put a couple of links in the newsletter, have a good read and let's think about our great personnel overseas that put it on the line everyday.
Stay safe.

"SEAL's to the Rescue"
Kidnapped US captain freed; snipers kill 3 pirates
NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) - Navy snipers on the fantail of a destroyer cut down three Somali pirates in a lifeboat and rescued an American sea captain in a surprise nighttime assault in choppy seas Easter Sunday, ending a five-day standoff between a team of rogue gunmen and the world's most powerful military.
It was a stunning ending to an Indian Ocean odyssey that began when 53-year-old freighter Capt. Richard Phillips was taken hostage Wednesday by pirates who tried to hijack the U.S.-flagged Maersk Alabama. The Vermont native was held on a tiny lifeboat that began drifting precariously toward Somalia's anarchic, gun-plagued shores.

Mumbai Attacks Demonstrate Terrorist Reliance on Small Arms
At 9 p.m. on Nov. 26, 2008, gunmen began a series of coordinated attacks in the city of Mumbai, India that terrorized the city and captivated the world. Using only small arms and grenades, roughly two dozen operatives from Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), a Kashmir- based militant group, attacked Mumbai, paralyzing the financial and cultural center of India for 62 hours. In the end, nearly 200 were killed and 350 wounded.
While much of the international community has focused its attention on the nuclear competition between India and Pakistan, the attacks in Mumbai utilized a different weapon of mass destruction: small arms. Armed with AK-47s and Chinese Type 56 rifles, 9 mm pistols and grenades, the majority of the gunmen arrived by sea and immediately moved against the Colaba Police Station in order to disrupt the potential police response to the impending attacks. As the gunmen broke into smaller teams and moved through the city, they attacked soft (nonmilitary) targets such as the Taj Mahal Hotel and the Nariman House. In total, the gunmen struck 10 locations with coordinated military precision armed solely with low-tech small arms.

The Elephant in the Room: Obama vs. United States
The president is contemptuous of American values. And one key nominee prefers the judgment of other countries and global elites.
By Rick Santorum
Watching President Obama apologize last week for America's arrogance - before a French audience that owes its freedom to the sacrifices of Americans - helped convince me that he has a deep-seated antipathy toward American values and traditions. His nomination of former Yale Law School Dean Harold Koh to be the State Department's top lawyer constitutes further evidence of his disdain for American values.
This seemingly obscure position in Foggy Bottom's bureaucratic maze is one of the most important in any administration, shaping foreign policy in the courts and playing a critical role in international negotiations and treaties.

STATIC, DYNAMIC & INTER-ACTIVE RANGES
By: Clark Vargas
Over the last 15 years, the cost of shooting range construction has escalated beyond the reach of most municipalities and state organizations, which have to build ranges. The main reason for the cost escalation is that more stringent design criteria is being applied unnecessarily, to range designs, across the country.
Range officers and law enforcement trainers recognize that the buzzwords for training today's shooters are Static, Dynamic and Inter-Active shooting. We should therefore recognize, in the design, how the ranges are going to be utilized and rely on the appropriate operational rules that the range is going to be used properly, such that the basis of the particular range design is not an over resign. There are actually 3 levels of safe and economical range design, each progressively more expensive that can be produced. Each safe and cost effective for the type of shooting that is going to be performed within, and without sacrificing safety or environmental stewardship.

Q+A - Who are the Somali pirates?
NAIROBI (Reuters) - It took the capture and rescue five days later of an American hostage to draw world attention back to the long-running phenomenon of Somali piracy.
The pirates also grabbed headlines last year for the world's largest sea hijack -- a Saudi supertanker carrying oil worth $100 million -- and the seizure of a Ukrainian ship with a huge military cargo including 33 tanks.
Away from the international limelight, the gangs have been striking regularly for years. After the rescue of U.S. ship captain Richard Phillips, they still hold about 260 hostages, including nearly 100 Filipinos, on 17 captured vessels.
So who are these modern-day buccaneers?

Questionable Reward: Arms Sales and the War on Terrorism
In November 2007, Pakistan's president, General Pervez Musharraf, invoked emergency rule, suspended the constitution, and arrested thousands of opponents and human rights advocates. As other countries, such as the Netherlands and Switzerland, immediately suspended military aid and weapons deals, the United States, which has given Pakistan more than $10 billion in military assistance since September 11, 2001, decided it would review U.S. arms transfers to Pakistan. Washington also indicated it would likely not prevent any weapons transfers, asserting such a decision could undermine counterterrorism efforts.

Guns On Board
A "real world" look at the issue of carrying firearms on your vessel
This article is about the practicalities of carrying a firearm aboard a vessel. We respect other's opinions and beliefs, and we fully realize that not all vessel owners and operators have a desire or need to possess a firearm. We don't want to engage in any type of gun control debate here. If you desire to own a firearm for personal protection and vessel defense, and the law allows you to do so, then this article will provide you with some useful information.
The information in this article applies to both pleasure and commercial craft. This article is by no means a complete discussion of the matter and should not be used as the sole basis for deciding to possess and carry a firearm onboard a vessel.

BLACKHAWK! Climbing Gear
Years ago – back when I had every weekend free and no family to answer to, my best friend and I spent plenty of time on the cliffs in nearby river parks. Rock climbing was his thing. Rappelling was mine. (It's a lot easier to get your body weight DOWN the cliff than up it!) When your life quite literally depends on the quality of your gear, you learn to appreciate the little things that make bits and pieces of gear better. This week we're going to take a look at a few pieces of climbing gear from BLACKHAWK!. Given their name and reputation in the industry, you can bet your life on this stuff - because they probably already have.

10 Commandments of Fighting Fitness
Steve Baccari, RKC
You can't out condition the dinner table.
If you don't believe this, try the following experiment.
Eat your favorite snack (junk food). Time yourself to see how long it took to eat, most likely 2-minutes. Then check how many calories it is, Say 250. Now get on a treadmill and see how long it takes to burn those calories. I think you will agree this is not a viable method to get rid of excess calories, so start your exercise by pushing yourself away from the dinner table and save your energy for more productive training.
Joint mobility comes before flexibility or agility.
Before you can be truly flexible you have to be able to get your joints through a full range of motion. Start your days with super joints.
